Abstract :
Translated abstract :
The slag heaps are in several respects important elements of the territory of the Provence mining basin. Most of them are barely or not visible, and witness of a former mining activity. They are nevertheless at the center of scientific studies about their development. Since 2007 and the creation of the OHM Bassin Minier de Provence, nearly 10 projects have focused on slag heaps with different thematic and disciplinary approaches: geographic study of their location, diachronic monitoring of their vegetation, study of combustion, the fertility of their soil, their capacity to accommodate the surrounding fauna... While an OHM project is currently working on the ‘state of the art’ of the knowledge acquired on BMP, it appears interesting to propose educational tools for schoolchildren (as has just been done on subjects such as air pollution) to make students aware of these very specific environments which shape their living environment and the mining basin.
