Spherical carbonaceous particles (SCPs) are good indicators of atmospheric soot pollution due to high-temperature combustion of fossil fuels such as oil or coal and more generally of particulate pollution. We propose here to rely on several peat cores already dated to reconstruct the fluxes of SCPs in the Upper Vicdessos. A preliminary study has shown that the fluxes of SCPs at Bassiès were in the past important. It is possible that industrial activities in the valley are the cause and we propose to test this hypothesis by analysing several peat cores according to a proximity gradient with Auzat.
