Eduardo Anselmo Ferreira da Silva is Vice-Rector for the Academic Affairs in the Aveiro University (Portugal) and also Professor at the Department of Geosciences. He received a degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 1986, and MSc and PhD degrees in Geosciences (Environmental Geochemistry research area) from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 1991 and 1995, respectively.

Eduardo Anselmo Ferreira da Silva research interests concern environmental geochemistry related to studies of site characterization of areas affected by industrial contamination and old mining activities, evaluation of risk on contaminated areas, rehabilitation methodologies, and the environmental Geochemistry and Health issues. He also has research interests in the application of Sequential Selective Chemical Extraction in the study and identification of the bearing-phases of trace metals in soil and stream sediment samples. Belongs to the GeoBioTec - GeoBiosciences, Geotechnologies and Geoengeeneering Research Center. Is the leader of the Research Group "CES - Complex Environmental Systems".

The co-supervisor had 40 master students, 11 PhD students and 6 PostDoctoral researchers, being involved in national and international projects

From 1987 to the present he authored numerous papers with multiple collaborations; wrote 14 book chapters, 103 international journal papers ( 79 peer reviw papers, 640 citations, 110 from 2013) and over 250 conference papers.
