The African Sahel has suffered from long years of drought and inappropriate agricultural practices. This has created a situation of ecological imbalance in these ecosystems accompanied by a loss of biodiversity. This situation has led to the establishment of the Great Green Wall (GGW) project to restore these degraded ecosystems. It is within this framework that we are interested in the study of large wild mammals along the route in Senegal in order to highlight this biodiversity, its conservation status, its interactions and the threats to its survival. For this study, we are focusing on the Ranérou and Golmy sites where new reforestation plots have just been established. The proposed study will allow us to describe the baseline situation in order to later evaluate the impact of the GGW reforestation project on this animal community.
